Discussion of Soka University of America's Admissions Standards:
Soka University of America has selective admissions, and just one out of three applicants will be admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of successful applicants had high school averages of "B+" or higher, combined SAT scores of 1650 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 23 or better.
The university's average math scores tend to be higher than English largely because of the high number of international students who attend Soka.
Soka's website clearly states, "Although all successful applicants will have strong academic records, good grades and test scores are not enough by themselves for an applicant to be accepted." And in the graph above, you can see that some students with grades and standardized test scores that were on target for Soka did not get in. Soka's admissions process is holistic, and the admissions folks will be looking for students who have the values and leadership potential that are so central to the school's mission. Along with the rigor of high school courses, a successful application needs to present strong essays, interesting extracurricular activities, and glowing letters of recommendation.
